One of more than 5,700 Hilton hotels worldwide, the Hilton University of Houston serves as the primary teaching facility for the Conrad N. Hilton College of Global Hospitality Leadership, which is housed within the Hotel. Hilton College is the only hospitality program in the world whose teaching facility is an internationally branded full-service hotel. The hotel is centrally located in Houston, on the campus of the University of Houston. The Hilton Hotel at the University of Houston is three miles from downtown, which is home to the city's state-of-the-art athletic and performance venues, as well as world-class dining. The hotel is conveniently located at William P. Hobby Airport and the George Bush Intercontinental Airport, NASA, the Museum District, Texas Medical Center, distinctive shopping experiences, and a short drive to Galveston's beaches.

The hotel is home to Eric's Restaurant, an American cuisine with a Southern flare in an upscale and relaxed atmosphere.

First built in 1975, the hotel recently underwent a $30.4 million expanision and renovation. Approved by the University of Houston System Board of Regents in March 2019, the revenue bond was used to expand the hotel. A new five-story, 70-room guest tower was added, increasing the total number of guest rooms to 150. Included was the opportunity to renovate existing rooms in the eight-story North Tower. 

The last major milestone at the Hilton University of Houston occured in April 2010 when it  "reopened" as a "new hotel" thanks to a $12.5-million renovation. 

The hotel features 25,000 square feet of flexible banquet space, including six meeting rooms and three ballrooms with capacities ranging from 10 to 600 people. It is the ideal destination for meetings, banquets, receptions and special events. Additionally, business casual dining is available at Eric’s Restaurant, just off the hotel lobby. The Fred Parks Boardroom offers a stylish alternative venue for breakfast, lunch or dinner meetings and features a remarkable wine collection. The boardroom can accommodate customized menus with wine pairings for up to 14 people.
